HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

This course is recognised as the standard training for providing first-aid in the workplace under various Workcover authorities in Australia.
It provides the knowledge and skills to assist in situations requiring first-aid emergency response, life support and managing casualties until medical help arrives.
Participants learn how to respond appropriately to life-threatening medical emergencies, which includes providing CPR, using an AED (automatic external defibrillator) and following the DRSABCD strategy. They will also understand their legal responsibilities as a First-Aid provider.
This course covers a range of first-aid topics which will give you the confidence to manage emergency situations that may arise in your place of work. You will also learn how to provide ongoing care for an injured person until the arrival of professional medical help.
You will be shown early responder medical care procedures for a range of emergencies from heatstroke, insect bites and shark bites to people struggling to breathe.
Completing the course will help you apply for a first-aid officer position or add value to your current role by offering to serve as a first-aid officer in addition to carrying out your regular duties, or simply to ensure the health and wellbeing of family from any accidents around the house.
