What are Articulated Haul Truck Operations?
This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to operate, load, haul and dump materials using an articulated haul truck. This unit applies to those who work in operational roles. This unit applies to both front and rear dumping haul trucks. Licensing, legislative, regulatory and certification requirements that apply to this unit can vary between states, territories, and industry sectors, and must be sourced form state jurisdictions prior to applying this unit.
On Completion Of This Course Participants Will Have The Skills And Knowledge To:
- Select and wear personal protective equipment required for work activities
- Coordinate and communicate planned activities with others at the site prior to commencement of work activity
- Carry out prestart and start-up checks in line with workplace procedures
- Identify faults or defects and rectify or report within scope of own responsibility and according to workplace procedures
Drive and operate articulated haul truck using techniques suited to equipment capabilities, site and work conditions, and according to workplace procedures
- Monitor and manage equipment performance using indicators and alarms
- Monitor hazards and risks during operations, and ensure safety to self, others, plant and equipment
- Position articulated haul truck under all loading units and load vehicle Carry out approved haulage operations
- Carry out approved dumping operations
- Park up, shut down, secure and carry out post operational inspection of equipment in line with workplace procedures
- Conduct housekeeping activities
